Portageurs have been playing Midwest Americana since they could hum a tune. They grew up playing with bands, in basements, in beaten-down VFW halls, on flatbeds, in barns, and in city parks. Their musical upbringing was about originality and feel. There’s nothing fancy about the way they play or sing. Much of their set draws from the old tunes that they heard growing up. They take those songs and revitalize them for a contemporary crowd while mixing in their own music. Whether it's done with a slide guitar and mandolin or steady heel kick and clap, their music is gripping, honest, and outright satisfying.
